Sometimes teaching moments present themselves, and as a mom, you must watch your child fail. Diva knew a song to memorize linking verbs. She knew it 3 years ago. Yesterday she had a quiz where she had to list the linking verbs. She had all weekend to study. She chose not to, claiming that she still knew the song. I found the song paper, offered it to her to study. She glanced at it once. I chose not to nag her about it. Well, she only remembered 10 of the 18. Her teacher asked if she had studied. I chose to let the teacher know that Diva chose not to study because she "knew" it.
I wonder if Diva will study for her helping verb quiz that she has next week, or if she thinks she still remembers form 3 years ago.

It's so hard when we have to watch our kids fail. Good for you for holding your tongue. I know how hard that is...and how painful.
I wanted to follow up with you about your comment...but first I wanted to say, congrats on your pregnancy! How exciting and beautiful (and overwhelming). No wonder you were considering a leave of absence...teaching is hard, especially with a slew of our own children. But you are right, if God is showing us in small ways He needs us, it's hard to say no, isn't it? Anyway, I appreciated your insight and wanted to let you know. Have a terrific Wednesday!
