Marian Crowns

Today the assistants (meaning teen, Diva, Curly Girl and Wondertwins) and I made these yummy Marian Crowns. They were super easy to make and very tasty. Even the Dad liked them and he does not like lemon.

After making and sampling these, I decided that it was not a good idea to have 24 of them in the house. So, Diva and I (along with the entire first grade Catechism class) delivered them to our church choir - the had rehearsal tonight. They were very grateful that we thought of them for our small service project.

What I was doing ten years ago:
I was a newlywed. We had been married just over 3 months, and were adjusting to life without my beloved Mother In Law. She passed away March 1998 after losing a battle to Breast Cancer. I was also student teaching in Special Ed. I would find out this month (April 1998) that I was hired to teach in the school where I student taught.

Five things on my To-Do list today:

1. Find the missing Algebra book!
2. Pick up the school room and vacuum
3. Attach the pink Flip and Flush to the toilet
4. Make and eat popcorn!
5. Pray for the families that were affected by the crash in Rantoul.

Things I would do if I were a billionaire:

1. Pay off all of our debt
2. buy a car for the Dad
3. Move to Italy for at least a year
4. Fund the building of a Catholic school nearby
5. Support our Catholic Church

Three of my bad habits:
1. too much junk food
2. too much yelling
3. too little housecleaning

Five places I’ve lived:
1. Illinois
2. Texas
3. Georgia
4. Various houses in my college town
5. In an itty bitty town which is in an itty bitty county in the midwest

Five jobs I’ve had:

1. waitress
2. deliquent loan collector
3. teacher
4. human subjects research assistant
5. MOM

Five books I’ve recently read:

1. Raising Your Spirited Child
2. Little House on the Prairie
3. Ok - I really cannot think of anymore - sad I know - my brain has fallen asleep

WHY OH WHY?

Why would there be dairy in SOY milk? - This would really annoy me if we still were dealing with dairy allergies, or if I was vegan ;). It kind of bugs me regardless.

Motivated Moms

If you are anything like me, you house is messy. If you have kids you want to spend time with them rather than clean. That is my excuse and I am sticking with it!

Well I discovered Motivated Moms. It is a yahoo group by the same name, also a book. If you join the group you get a email daily telling you what chores to do. Every day you will see an email like this:

Daily Chores:
__ Make beds
__ Feed pets
__ Prepare breakfast
__ Load / Run / Empty dishwasher
__ Sweep kitchen & entryway
__ Clean kitchen sink
__ Clear kitchen clutter & wipe down counters
__ Plan / Cook dinner
__ Wipe out bathroom sinks
__ Empty trash
__ Do laundry
__ Read to children
__ Exercise
__ Quiet time
__ Take vitamins/medication
__ Prepare tomorrow's clothing

You will also receive an separate email that tells you to do the specific chores for that day. Ex: one day it will be to change the sheets and wash them.

I am hoping this helps my housekeeping :)

Ok, so again, I missed Monday. Maybe I need a reminder set on my google calendar!

Yesterday the 3 little girls and I had a busy and fun day. I love spending the day away from home with my girls. It allows me to focus on the girls, without guilt, rather than worrying about the house.

The twins were playing on one of those side by side slides and going down together. It melts my heart to see them all play together.

Plastics

I have been thinking about plastic lately. I had heard that plastic numbers 3, 6, and 7 are bad for food products. I had read a lot about it on the 4 real message board. I still did not do anything about it. Then it comes out that Canada is going to deem some plastic (that with BPA) as toxic.

At that point I figured God really was leading me to check into all of that plastic that my girls eat off of. If you have even eaten at my domicile, you know that the wondertwins are VERY particular about eating off of certain dishes. I was really worried about having to explain why the Dora and Strawberry Shortcake plates and bowls and cups were going to disappear.

I did look at our dishes. Jeremy and I have decided that we will allow milamine dishes. They are plastic but have not been shown to leach chemicals into the food. So we removed ALL except 1 plate, Franklin the turtle. We did manage to find Dora, Diego, and Pirate milamine dishes at Pamida. So the 3 little ones are all set. They each have 1 plate and 1 bowl. I bought glasses for us all to use.

Diva was very sad to realize that the Hannah Montana and High School Musical dishes were ALL unsafe. If anyone out there in blog land knows where to obtain glass or milamine HM or HSM dishes PLEASE leave a comment!

Mothering on Modays (of Friday)

Ok, so it is not Monday. But with 2 year old twins, something planned for Monday often gets done Friday nite.

Despite an early wake up call, compliments of the earthquake, today was wonderful in our crazy household. Today was "Dad's" birthday. All of the girls worked together this morning to make him feel special. They sang happy birthday at least 5 times, snuggled him awake, assisted in making cupcakes, and were on their best behavior. I just love watching the girls all interact with their Daddy.

Another thing that I love about being a Mom - realizing that even though the girls look like their daddy, Diva and Curly have many of my traits. I just wish they had inherited my good traits! I am reading Raising Your Spirited Child and as I discovered the girls traits in it, I realized that I had more of the spirited traits than they do. At least I can relate!

Twin Picture

I friend sent this picture of the Wondertwins to me. A is the one with the white ribbon on her dress. Great Grandma always sews a ribbon on A's outfit if she buys identical clothes for the twins.

Since I never get tagged, I figure these type of things are my Blog fun.

You Are Easter

You are an optimistic, hopeful, and genuinely sweet person.

Sensitive and affectionate, you are easily touched.

You love nature, animals, and anything cute or cuddly.

For you, every day is a new chance - no matter what happened yesterday.

What makes you celebrate: Almost anything. You love most holidays and celebrations.

At holiday get togethers, you do best as: The peacemaker. You can prevent any squabbles that might break out.

On a holiday, you're the one most likely to: Remember to include everyone

This is so wrong

I have no idea!

I have no clue how these 2 pictured turned out this way. But it looks pretty neat. If you have any idea what my camera was set to, please let me know.

Also, do you see the cool Baby Legs on the arms and legs of the wondertwins? They are very handy to have around, even Diva wears them on her arms or legs when she is chilly.
