Since daycare child had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday of this week, we decided to take advantage of the day and go to the museum with some friends. It was really nice to chat with K. The girls and O and K had a blast. Diva loves playing with K. We even made a new friend that day.

Carrot flavored pumpkins
Letter L
Letter N
This idea was taken from No Time for Flashcards. We are studying the Letter N this week, and needed a creative way to make a page for our alphabet book. So, we tore up newspapers and glued them to the N on the page. On the back we glued 9 Neckties.
Wondertwin C
Curly Girl is very proud of her picture. She loves art.

Below are the girls with their pumpkins covered with glue and glitter.
What fun!

Thanksgiving plans!
Due to food allergies, we will not be having turkey on Thanksgiving. Wondertwin A is allergic to chicken and turkey (and other things). Due to the same allergy, and a need for tradition, some family members who cannot imaging Thanksgiving without turkey will not be attending our feast. I am okay with that. I love having holidays where my girls can eat everything at the table. This only happens when I cook the food myself.
Who is coming!
Lea
Kent, Kim, Koty
Scot, Debbie, 3 or 4 teens
Betty
Elsie
Us - 6
I think that is all - so a grand total of 18 people! That is a lot of food to make!
Menu:
Ham (aka dead pig according to my girls)
Mashed potatoes
Ham gravy (if it turns out)
Cranberries - the yummy HFCS shaped like the can type
Waldorf/Apple salad - by request - anyone have a tried and true recipe?
Homemade yeasty roll
Hopefully strawberry pretzel dessert
Pies - rhubarb/strawberry and pumpkin
I need more food inspiration! Please leave a comment on your fave holiday food. We avoid: turkey, chicken, fish, seafood, and pears.

Princess Batman
Here is Wondertwin A dressed up as Batman. Now this child, and none on mine, has actually seen a Batman. They just enjoy the toys. Do you think that this is the first Princess Batman. Batman costume, princess hat, girly necklace, black boa around the neck, Barbie in one hand, Rapunzal book in the other.
I love my creative girls!

My bounty
This is partially a reposting a a former post, but since I do not know how to change to a current date, I am just cutting and pasting.
Pictures coming soon, but I wanted to share the yummy things I have been able to make; thanks to the goodness of friends.
My garden failed this year. You see, we just moved into this wonderful house last September. Therefore, we did not know where the spring rains would drain. This year was a very wet year in the midwest. It seems our garden, planted in May, was the low spot in the neighborhood. Therefore, everything flooded. We were able to harvest some tomatoes, but only little ones. Oh, and poison ivy is apparently growing there too.
Anyway, some friends and family gave me veggies and fruit to can/freeze.
I have canned or frozen:
9 jelly jars of peach jam
9 1/2 qts of peaches
7 jars of chili sauce
3 jars spaghetti sauce
9 qts + 1 pt tomatos
2 gallons of peppers
1 gallon cabbage
2 gallons green beans
2 jars of cherry pie filling
12 qts + 2 pints + 6 jelly jars for dh to take to work of applesauce
1 qt of apple pie filling
1 pt + 7 jelly jars of apple butter
Grandma Betty gave us a good portion of those tomatoes and peppers and all of the green beans! Of course her garden was wonderful.
Thanks to all of my good friends who gave us their excess fruits and veggies so that we could have some yummy food later in the year: Joni, Anna, Stephanie, just to name a few.
Also, thank you God for the wonderful food that you provide for us, in many ways, throughout the year.
Tell me what you have canned this year.

Donut
What kind of donut are you? Glazed are my faves!
You Are a Glazed Donut |
Okay, you know that you're plain - and you're cool with that. You prefer not to let anything distract from your sweetness. Your appeal is understated yet universal. Everyone dig you. And in a pinch, you'll probably get eaten. |

My baby is 7
Today marks the day that I became a mother. Diva was born at 7:32 am on Oct. 06, 2001. I cannot believe that she is 7. She is a total drama queen, who loves everything about Hannah Montana, High School Musical, math, designing clothing, her little sisters, and hates her school uniform, when her sisters get into her stuff, and chores.
We had a cheerleader birthday party for her. Family friends, who are cheerleaders at a local high school, came and taught the girls some cheers and cheer jumps. The girls all had a blast and I did not have to come up with games. It was a great party for everyone!
Here is the cake that I made. It turned out all right. - Oh, and for the unenlightened, EHS stands for East High School, the school in the High School Musical trilogy.

Quirks? I have none :p
The rules are:
1.Link to the person who tagged you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. List 6 unspectacular quirks you have
4. Tag 6 bloggers by linking them.
5. Leave a comment on each taggee's blog to let them know they've been tagged.
My unspectacular quirks:
1. I have been known to invite guests over so that I will become motivated to clean the house.
2. All 4 of my girs were born within 44 months, and I have absolutely no memory of the twins' first year of life. Even Christmas, but there are pics to prove I was there.
3. I love to can and freeze food from the garden. Unfortunetly, I do not really know how!
4. I homeschool my 4 daughters and run a small daycare. My day starts at 5 am - I did not even know that 5 happened in the morning. I just thought it happened at supper time. Shrug.
5. I was never taught the fine art of cleaning. Therefore, my house is never truely clean.
6. I am a girl scout leader. Wanna buy some cookies. LOL
